Volunteering in a primary school in the South of France

Introduction:

The Vieux Salins school is a public elementary school in the town of Hyères. It is a seaside school, located 6km from the town center, in Vieux Salins between the salt marshes and the beach.

The main objectives of the school project are international and European outreach and education for sustainable development.
The school is dynamic, with many innovative educational projects led by a highly committed multidisciplinary team. The school’s students are very involved in school life and highly motivated by numerous projects. This experience would allow volunteers to further enrich their mobility project with a more comprehensive knowledge of the French education system.

Tasks:

Assisting teachers during physical education classes in English.
Assisting teachers during art classes in English.
International school choir.
Helping to introduce and use traditional English expressions at school for everyday activities.
Leading the imitation games workshop in English in the motor skills room: market game, kitchen corner, car garage, etc.
Organizing traditional games in English during recess (or in the volunteer’s country of origin)
Organizing workshops based on the culture of the volunteer’s country (singing, listening to music, visual arts, famous people, etc.)
Working in the library
Maintaining the English newsletter on the school blog (writing short articles in English about school news or English culture with the students)
What we expect from the volunteer:

English speaker (and French if possible)
Over 22 years old
Motivation
Ability to work in a team
Willingness to get involved in a project
Develop expertise in teaching support
Participate in leading a group
Participate in the running of the school
